The partnership between Vermilion Community College (VCC) and the Ely Area Development Association (EADA) to jointly operate the Ely Economic & Technology Center ended June 30, 2009. VCC  was forced to make difficult budget cuts when the State of Minnesota  cut MnSCU funding. The good news is that the EADA will remain in the space on Sheridan Street. EADA Director Larson moved from her private office across from the space used for computer training into the conference room. VCC has generously allowed the EADA to use the Tech Center furniture and two computers.  Queen City Federal reduced the rent to accommodate EADA’s budget and is currently looking for a tenant to lease the training room space. Once a tenant is found, construction will take place to close in the training room space, EADA space and common area.  The Tech Center has been recently been painted and two new computers have been purchased to allow for public access and Project Firefly research.
