The Community Economic Development Joint Powers Board meeting on Wednesday, 28 May 2008 focused on planning for housing to meet development needs in the area. Those presenting information were Steve Griesert, Community Partners Research, Inc., Faribault, MN and Teri Deaver from ArtspaceUSA, a group that is in the business of rehabbing schools for housing and artspace. Joint Powers Board members voted to apply for $10,000 in pilot project funding from the Greater MN Housing Fund. If successful in obtaining the funding, Joint Powers would use the funding to determine location for temporary housing that could evolve to permanent housing as well as to study the potential to rehab local housing for rental.
