Ely Area Development Association Seeks Applications for an Executive Director

Responsibilities: The Executive Director creates jobs in all economic sectors, and aids the EADA and the Ely area in efforts to improve on the qualities unique to the Ely area.

In addition to a competitive salary for a half-time position, the successful applicant can write economic development grants to include a component of raising their responsibilities and pay to a full-time position with board approval.

Ely Area Development Association is located in Ely, MN on the edge of Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The area boasts numerous lakes and rivers, pristine forests, and abundant wildlife. Recreational opportunities abound including fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, snowmobiling, hunting, and boating. Ely is two hours from Duluth and four hours from the Twin Cities. The Ely area’s residents enjoy a small town atmosphere offering many shops and restaurants, parks, and city-wide celebrations throughout the year.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of economic development policies and procedures and the ability to carry them out in a timely and impartial manner.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in administration, economic development or a related field.

Experience: Two years professional experience in activities related to economic and community development. Familiarity with the structure of municipal and township government; knowledge of funding sources and technical and business service resources.

Additional skills: Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred. Human Relations skills and ability to perform conflict resolution is critical.
